The honest verdict

Are Disney water parks worth it?

Worth it on a longer, warm-weather trip where a slower water-park day is a welcome break — the two parks are far more themed and fun than a hotel pool. Skip them on a short trip focused on the four theme parks, or in cooler months.

What you actually get

Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach aren't ordinary water parks — they're fully themed Disney parks with big wave pools, lazy rivers, and headline slides. As a mid-trip rest day, they beat sitting by the hotel pool and give kids a change of pace.

The cost

A standalone water-park day runs about $70–$80 (date-dependent). Alternatively, Park Hopper Plus adds water-park visits to your ticket for roughly $20–$30 over regular Park Hopper — cheaper than a separate day if you'll go once. Either way, it's an add-on cost on top of your theme-park tickets.

When it's worth it — and when to skip

Worth it for trips of 5+ nights, summer visits (a water day is a genuine relief), and families who love to swim. Skip it on a focused 1–3 day theme-park trip, in cooler months (December–February water can be chilly), or if you'd rather use the day at a fifth theme-park visit or Disney Springs.

Deciding on the add-on? Undercover Tourist sells official Disney tickets with Park Hopper Plus options, typically below gate.
